Connect Glencoe: Old Green Bay Trail Linear Parks

Connect Glencoe will activate a series of linear parks along Old Green Bay Road. The stretch of land is 0.53 miles (approximately 2,800 feet). The trail will be 10-feet wide with a crushed limestone surface. The overall design was created to accommodate a variety of users, ages, and abilities. It will act as a spine to a recreational multi-use trail that connects to an overall 9-mile trail in four villages.

The project will connect five separate parks with a meandering path that takes walkers, runners, and bikers through an urban garden of mature trees. The trail will connect users to various gardens, fitness equipment, a new playground, an interactive water feature, a sculpture, as well as downtown businesses, the lakefront, and the train station.

Board Refines Phase 1 of Connect Glencoe

Tuesday, April 2, 2019

The Board of Commissioners decide which Connect Glencoe Master Plan elements should be included in the Phase 1 of construction plans. The Board of Commissioners determines the following elements will be included in the Phase 1 project: multi-use trail, playground, play train, an interactive water feature at Lincoln and Crescent, enhanced trail heads at Park and Maple Hill, activity pods, Veteran's Park improvements, and play train.

The Board also finalized which elements will be Park District-funded and which elements will be available for donor/grant funding. Only the multi-use trail, playground, interactive water feature, and trail head enhancements are selected for District funding. Other elements will be funded if grants/donations are available.

Staff is then directed to bring a design contract with Altamanu Inc. to the Board for approval.
