Board of Commissioners Now Seeking Applicants

Vacancy to be Filled Soon

The Park Board is looking for interested candidates to fill the vacancy on the Park Board left by Brandon Hinkle, who resigned due to a move out of state. Per state statute, an appointment to a
vacancy on the Park Board may be made by the Board President and confirmed by the Board of Park Commissioners.

Should an appointment be made, the replacement commissioner will serve for two years, ending in April 2023. The replacement Commissioner would then be eligible to run for another term in the April
2023 election, should they choose to do so.

The Glencoe Park District is governed by five elected commissioners, representing the recreational needs of the community for four-year unpaid terms. Park Commissioners have the power to levy taxes
within prescribed limits, establish or change Park District policies, sign agreements, award contracts and possess all of the powers similar to those of a board of directors for a public corporation. The Park
Board also hires an Executive Director to manage the day-to-day affairs of the Park District. The Executive Director hires professional staff to assist in managing operations. The Executive Director
also works to keep the board informed of the happenings within the Glencoe Park District. A description of duties is available upon request.

The Commissioners are expected to attend, in person, Committee and Board Meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Takiff Center. Additional meetings may be added as
needed, but with advanced notice.

Glencoe Park District is proud to be a contributing partner in making our community one of the top places to live on the North Shore. The District received the National Gold Medal Award and is an
Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency. Both of these awards are for excellence in management of parks and recreation.

In order to be considered, complete the application and return it to [email protected]. Once received, a meeting will be scheduled with the Board of Park Commissioners to discuss your application. The Commissioners will then vote, at a public meeting, appointing a replacement for the vacant seat.
