Out of an abundance of caution to protect the health and safety of the Glencoe community, the Village of Glencoe Board of Trustees and Glencoe Park District Board of Commissions have made the joint decision to cancel all of Glencoe’s traditional 2020 4th of July activities in the midst of COVID-19 concerns. Canceled activities include the Glencoe Rotary’s Fun Run, games and Glencoe’s Got Talent at Kalk Park, Glencoe community parade, and the Party in the Park and Fireworks display at Lakefront Park.

Glencoe Park District facilities will remain closed through the end of May. The parks will continue to be open for walking, running, and biking for individuals maintaining social distancing. All playgrounds, sport courts, frisbee golf, and outdoor restrooms remain closed.

At this time, our summer camps and programs are scheduled to take place as planned. Additionally, we have been authorized to open our day care facility to children of essential workers in Glencoe.

Due to Governor Pritzker’s COVID-19 extended Stay-at-Home order, all Glencoe Park District facilities will now be closed through April 30. The parks will remain open for walking, running, and biking for individuals maintaining social distancing. All playgrounds remain closed.

On April 2, the Park District Board of Commissioners closed ALL sport courts, frisbee golf, outdoor restrooms and parks for group play, effective immediately. Because of the seriousness of the current COVID-19 social distancing requirements, and out of an abundance of concern for the health and well-being of our community, the Glencoe Public Safety Department may issue citations to anyone found to be violating these rules. Glencoe’s first responders are being tasked with many responsibilities during this public health crisis - please don't waste Public Safety resources by violating these rules.

Playground Closure Update

On March 21, 2020, per Illinois Executive Order 2020-10, the Glencoe Park District announced that all District playgrounds are closed to public use. In the next 24 hours, playground swings will be removed and entrances to playgrounds will be closed. At this time, all athletic courts are available for individual or small group play as long as the 6 foot social distancing can be maintained. We actively discourage pick-up games of basketball, lacrosse, baseball, soccer, or other team sports that do not allow the 6 foot social distancing standard to be followed. Additionally, District parks and Glencoe Beach do remain open for walking, jogging, and biking as long as park users comply with social distancing requirements. Should reports be received that social distancing is not being maintained at the basketball courts or other areas of the parks or beach, the District may be required to expand closures.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate this rapidly evolving situation.

Today's Executive Order from Governor Pritzker states that individuals may leave their homes to engage in outdoor activity, provided the individuals comply with Social Distancing Requirements, as defined below, such as, by way of example and without limitation, walking, hiking, running, or biking.  Individuals may go to public parks and open outdoor recreation areas.  However, playgrounds may increase spread of COVID-19, and shall be closed. See Executive Order here.
