Following a new mandate from the Cook County Department of Public Health, face coverings will be required in all Glencoe Park District indoor public facilities effective immediately. This includes Glencoe Fitness, group fitness classes, adult programs, and all youth programs. The Cook County Order can be read in full here.

Youth Program Changes

Together with District 35, we’ve made the difficult decision to delay the start of certain after-school programming by one week. Instead of starting the week of August 30, certain after-school programming will now start on September 8. The new start date is designed to give everyone—teachers, students, and park district staff—time to adjust to new school COVID-19 protocols.

Masks Recommended

Masks No Longer Required Outdoors

We strongly recommend masks are worn indoors.

Unvaccinated individuals, including children 11 and younger, must wear masks while indoors. All others must wear masks when around children under age 12.

The Glencoe Park District Board of Commissioners approved developing a plan for renovations to West Park. The Board would like to invite the community to learn about the process and comment on the proposed renovations for West Park at the July 20, 2021 Board of Commissioners meeting held at the Takiff Center at 7 p.m. A draft concept plan will be unveiled to the community for additional comment at a special community meeting on August 3, 2021, at 6 p.m. at the Takiff Center. The August 3 meeting will also be streamed live on YouTube

The Park Board is looking for interested candidates to fill the vacancy on the Park Board left by Brandon Hinkle, who resigned due to a move out of state. Per state statute, an appointment to a vacancy on the Park Board may be made by the Board President and confirmed by the Board of Park Commissioners.

In order to be considered, complete the application  and return it to [email protected]. Once received, a meeting will be scheduled with the Board of Park Commissioners to discuss your application. The Commissioners will then vote, at a public meeting, appointing a replacement for the vacant seat.

Please note, due to the ongoing pandemic, fireworks will not take place on July 4. Please join us on  Friday, September 3 for Summer's Last Blast, featuring live music by The Empty Pockets and a fireworks show at Lakefront Park. The fun starts at 6 PM.

Glencoe Beach will be open to season pass holders only on July 4th from 10 AM to 7 PM. A steel drum band will perform live music from 1-4 PM at the beach.

Masks required in public areas for ages 2 and up

After reviewing updated CDC and State of Illinois face mask recommendations, the Glencoe Park District Board of Commissioners has approved new guidelines:

  • Masks must be worn at all times by unvaccinated individuals age 2 and up.

  • Masks must be worn at all times by staff, parents, and children in our Early Childhood wing. This rule is mandated by our DCFS childcare license.

  • Masks must be worn at all times by staff, participants, and programs at any Park District program that includes children under age 12. This is to protect individuals ineligible for vaccination.

  • Masks must be worn in "common spaces" at Park District facilities, including restrooms, hallways, lobbies, and entrances. This is to protect individuals ineligible for vaccination.

  • Vaccinated individuals participating in programs with others over the age of 12 can choose to remove their masks once they arrive in their program space. This includes, but is not limited to, Glencoe Fitness, fitness classes, adult art, and adult ceramics programs, as well as some staff-only spaces. A sign will be posted in these spaces that states "By entering this room without a face mask, you are verifying truthfully that you have been fully vaccinated or have an exemption from the Glencoe Park District." Mask-only times will continue to be offered at Glencoe Fitness.

After wearing masks for a year, we know this is exciting news for those who are fully vaccinated. We hope to have further clarification soon on outdoor programs and facilities. We will update you when changes to these guidelines occur. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work towards a fully re-opened Park District!
