Programs for AdultsWe all know children need plenty of time for outdoor activities, creative outlets and other fun play opportunities. But adults need recreation too! Fitness, arts or other recreation activities are a great way to help de-stress and live healthier lives.

Featured Instructor: Susan Taves

Glencoe Park District is pleased to team up with Susan Taves to conduct adult cooking classes. Susan is the chef/owner of Sweet Cassava Culinary Concepts. She has been catering for more than 20 years and is classically trained in savory and pastry.

Susan has studied in Italy and worked extensively in Jamaica, training staff for Sandals Resorts. She holds a culinary degree from the Culinary and Hospitality Institute of Chicago (CHIC), a Cordon Blue school, graduating with High Honors. She also holds a certificate from The French Pastry School. In addition, Susan has written curriculum and taught at CHIC and The Institute of Art.

As a master of Caribbean cuisine, Susan has cooked for such notable artists as Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Black Uhuru, Burning Spear, Bare Naked Ladies, and Natalie Merchant, to name a few.

In her classes you will learn a variety of healthy cooking techniques and where to source fresh all natural ingredients. Whether you’re cooking for yourself, your family or entertaining for family and friends; we will focus on how to have fun and simplify your cooking, dining and entertaining experience!
