The Glencoe Park District formed the Central Park Task Force as a short-term task force to gather input on Melvin Berlin Park (formerly Central Park). The Board of Commissioners solicited applications and
appointed members to the Task Force at their May 5, 2015 Special Meeting. The group was composed of representatives from Glencoe Park District Board of Commissioners (2), Glencoe Park District staff, Village of Glencoe staff, School District 35 staff, Glencoe Youth
Services (1), Glencoe Baseball Association (2), Central Park neighbors (2), Glencoe community members-at-large (2), and the donor (or designee). From May to July 15, 2015, the group met four times to discuss conceptual plans. All Task Force meetings followed the Open Meetings Act and were open to the public. In addition to the Task Force, there are also opportunities for the general public to give input on the plans as we move through the design process.
After four Task Force meetings, conceptual plans were presented and approved by the Board of Commissioners at their July 21, 2015 meeting. The Board of Commissioners Special Projects Committee approved the final designs in January. Construction of Berlin Park will begin on June 4, 2016.
