Rowing is one of the power programs on our Power of Play Passport. Power classes are programs that encourage the development of muscle and cardio strength.
This fall, the Glencoe Park District is offering a variety of programs which introduce you to the benefits of being active. The programs provide an active start to physical literacy, which is the ability, confidence, and desire to be physically active for life. In the Fall 2017 program guide, you will find several programs for ages 5-12 accompanied by one of six Glencoe Play symbols that represent Rhythm & Coordination, Power, Speed & Agility, Hand-Eye Coordination, Balance & Core, and Cognitive Development. These skills are integral ingredients in developing physically literate youth. By participating in programs which focus on sharpening each of these skills each year, our youth will be well on their way to becoming more physically literate and ultimately being active for life. That is the POWER of Play.
The program is simple: participate in a variety of physical literacy programs and become part of the Glencoe Play movement! Collect all 6 symbols to win! Then, bring your completed passport to the last day of any GLENCOE PLAY program. Your instructor will stamp your passport if you attended at least half the classes. Collect all 6 symbols within one year by participating in a variety of programming and we’ll give you a free Play On t-shirt to show you’re serious about physical fitness! All completed passports should be returned to the Takiff Center.
