Coming in 2016: A New Kalk Park!

Get ready for a new gazebo and revamped Kalk Park in 2016!

Thursday, September 24, 2015
Coming in 2016: A New Kalk Park!

In the Park District’s Master Plan, Kalk Park was identified for improvements in 2016. Liza’s Gazebo, the park’s most iconic feature, is twenty-five years old. After a structural analysis of Liza’s Gazebo, it was determined the structure needed to be replaced. A fence was installed around the gazebo as a safety precaution until the structure can be removed. The Board of Park Commissioners has called a Special Projects and Facilities Committee meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 7:15 pm, to begin discussions on Kalk Park and the replacement of the gazebo.  This meeting will be immediately preceded by a Finance Committee of the Whole meeting at 6:30 pm. Both meetings will take place at the Takiff Center.

Project information will be posted on www.glencoeparkdistrict.com as it becomes available. To contact a Park District representative about Kalk Park, please email specialprojects@glencoeparkdistrict.com or call (847) 835-3030.

Recognizing the Value of Glencoe Beach

A Statement from the Glencoe Park District Board of Commissioners

Tuesday, August 25, 2015
The Glencoe Park District has for some time, been the owner of various property which directly fronts onto Lake Michigan (the “Glencoe Beach”). In 1967, additional land was donated to the Park District by Harold and Jane Perlman which was thereafter designated by the Park District as “Perlman Park”. For many years, the Glencoe Park District has maintained boating and swimming beaches along Lake Michigan. The current Village of Glencoe water filtration facility is located on the lakefront adjacent to the Park District’s beachfront properties.
